Microsoft Office Specialist certification in Office 97
Two types of Microsoft Office Specialist certification are available for Office 97 applications: proficiency and expert. A comprehensive master certification is also available for those wishing to demonstrate the breadth of their ability by obtaining the four expert level certifications for Office 97.

Microsoft Office Specialist certification in Office 2000
Two types of Microsoft Office Specialist certification are available for Office 2000 applications: core and expert. A comprehensive master certification is also available for those wishing to demonstrate the breadth of their ability by obtaining a combination of three core and two expert certifications in Office 2000 applications.

Microsoft Office Specialist certification in Office XP
Two types of Microsoft Office Specialist certification are available for Office XP applications: core and expert. A comprehensive master certification is also available for those wishing to demonstrate the breadth of their ability by obtaining a combination of three core and two expert certifications in Office XP applications.

D4. What is the examination format?

Each examination asks candidates to perform tasks within a "live" Microsoft Office application. For example, during a Microsoft Word exam the candidate might be asked to balance newspaper column lengths or keep text together in columns. Microsoft Office Specialist certification exams are not multiple choice exams.

D5. How long does a typical examination take?

A Microsoft Office Specialist exam takes about one hour.

D6. What kind of preparation is necessary?

Exam candidates can prepare for an exam on their own, or use (approved) training material, or they can attend training courses run by certified instructors.

Most iQcenters require you to book before taking an exam. To make a booking and for more information about taking exams, contact the iQcenter directly. Some iQcenters also allow students to book and take the exam at the last minute.

D9. Where can I find my exam results?

Exam results are displayed as soon as you finish the exam. An official certificate will be mailed to successful candidates within 2-3 weeks. To maintain a high level of security, all examination data is encrypted, and the examination process is closely monitored. The entire testing procedure is conducted within a framework of complete confidentiality. Examination results are provided only to the candidate and to Microsoft.

D10. Can I take an examination more than once?

There is no limit on the number of times you can do a given Microsoft Office Specialist exam. However, the same fee applies to each examination.

D11. If I don't pass an examination, can I get a refund?

Refunds are not available if you fail an exam, nor are they available if you miss an exam appointment.
